MONTHLY MEETING
EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8
The meeting was
brought to order by Camp Commander, Bob
Yeager Jr., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Other members in
attendance were:

Ed Faatz | Dennis Christman | Bob Martin | Russ W. Jones | Bob Price |
OLD BUSINESS:
None, since this was the first regular meeting of the Camp
in over 20 years.
NEW BUSINESS:
Open House ‑
The Camp will conduct an Open House on Sunday, November 3, 1991 from 12 to 4
P.M.
Tombstone
Project ‑ Joe Long reported that upon contacting personnel at Cathedral
Cemetery it was requested that flat tombstones be used in place of the old
stones. At
Forest Hills, the idea went over well, but it seems that the Cemetery would like
their employees to do the work.
The cost per footer for each stone is estimated at $15 to $20 each.
Mr. Long will do follow-up on this project and report on a later date.
Testimonial
Dinner ‑ The Testimonial Dinner for Pennsylvania State Department Commander
Joseph Long will be held in March of 1992.
More information will be sent to members when final arrangements are
made.
Encampment
‑ The 112th Encampment for the State of Pennsylvania will be held in Scranton
for the first time since the 1920's on June 26 ‑ June 28, 1992.
A visit by the Site Committee will be made in January 1992 to finalize
where the Encampment will be held.
The University Inn in Scranton is the primary site.
A request for Committee Chairman and Members was made by Joe Long.
A discussion of all aspects of the Encampment was then begun.
The one most important aspect is the Program Book.
The Program Book is the main source of income to pay for all the
programs and accessories needed to plan and make this Encampment a complete
success. This
function will be headed by Joe Long assisted by Bob Shaffer.
Dennis Christman
volunteered to get listings and send a personal mailing to major businesses in
the area to help gain support by our local community.
Bob Yeager
suggested that a cover letter and sample page of book be made available to each
member so that they may also help in fulfilling this obligation.
Bob Shaffer will furnish this at the November meeting of the Memorial
Association.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Bob Martin and
Dennis Christman reported on their trip to Cedar Creek for the reenactment.
With no further
business, questions or comments, a motion to adjourn was made by Joe Long and
seconded by Bob Bergan.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Robert C. Shaffer
Asst. Secretary
