The meeting was called to order by Camp Commander Robert Bergen followed by the
recital of the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer by Camp Chaplain Bill Lindberg.
Other members in attendance were:
Bob Shaffer | Joe Long | Joe Rychwalski | Ron Albert | Bill Burns |
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved with no changes.
OLD BUSINESS:
Bob Shaffer reported that the sign for outside the Museum for Open House and
other events was in the process of being built.
Bill Lindberg will check on the possibility of someone painting the
emblem and other information on the sign. Bill will also check on the
possibility of a roll-up banner to be carried in parades.
This will have the Camp name and possibly the logo on it.
Joe Long reported that the Encampment was a huge success.
There was a total of 166 people at the Banquet.
The Campfire was also great with the entertainment by Bill Lindberg's
Vocal Group being the highlight of the evening.
The Ladies Auxiliary was initiated at the Encampment.
Their first meeting will be July 26th at the home of Bill and Ruth
Lindberg.
More information is forthcoming.
The Flag detail at Nay Aug was fantastic with the bearers being the photo on the
front page of the Sunday newspaper.
Joe Long will be attending the National Encampment in Pittsburgh in mid August.
To this date, 5 members have still not paid their dues.
A letter will be sent to them stating that if dues are not paid by 13
July, they will be dropped from the Camp roster.
A discussion was held on the different ways of obtaining funds for the State
Patriotic Instructor.
Some of the ideas were a decorative license plate and 50/50 raffles a
t Camp meetings and Holiday raffles.
The inventory of the Museum is slated to begin the weekend of 22 - 23 August.
Bob Bergen and Bob Shaffer will talk to Bob Price and get the
particulars, since he has just gone through an inventory at the Historical
Society.
NEW BUSINESS:
Bob Shaffer made a motion to buy the remaining books of the set from the Camp
at Kittanning, PA.
Joe Long seconded the motion.
A vote was taken and all were in favor.
The books were brought to the Encampment by Mr. William McMaster, the
newly elected State Commander.
By doing this, it saved the Camp about $20.00 in postage fees.
Bob Bergen made a motion to contact the Board as to the possibility of
raffling off the 2 pistols which were swapped in the Museum.
These pistols are replicas and not the real thing.
Bill Lindberg seconded the motion.
All were in favor.
If the raffle is a go, the tickets will be passed out at the dinner
meeting is September.
Ron Albert brought an SVR coat acquired from upstate New York which was
donated to the Camp by John Ferry.
Awaiting decision by Camp and Board.
Joe Rychwalski will check with the Springfield Armory about the prospect of
firearms for the Museum.
He will check whether they would be on load or if there would be a
modes fee involved in getting them to loan them to us.
Our next Open House is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 1992 from 12 to
4 p.m. This
is our chance to see whether Saturday or Sunday would be a better day to hold
future events.
Since there will be no meeting in August, our next meeting will be a dinner
meeting in September.
Information will be sent to all members.
With no further business, questions or comments, a motion to adjourn was made by
Joe Long and seconded by Bill Burns.
Respectfully Submitted,
Robert C. Shaffer
Asst. Secretary
