October 14, 1993

The meeting was called to order by Camp Commander Bob Shaffer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Other members in attendance were:

Joe Long Ron Albert Russ W. Jones Russ P. Jones

The minutes from the September meeting were read and approved.

OLD BUSINESS:

Joe Long found the Deed to the plot in Forest Hill Cemetery.  A copy was furnished to Camp Secretary Don Cahoon for forwarding to Attorney Jim Reed.

Joe Long also received a call from the National Commander-in-Chief concerning the existence of the GAR Memorial Association.  The gentleman that acquired the cannon called the Commander-in-Chief requesting this information.  Joe informed the Chief that we are, have been and will be for a long time to come, in existence.

A 4-drawer filing cabinet was donated to the Camp by Joe Long.  He suggested we file all of our new correspondence and documents in the cabinet.  Russ Jones also suggested that a copy of the minutes of our meetings also be filed there.

The Memorial Association agreed to pay for one-half of the bill for the blinds.  The Auxiliary has already paid their half.

NEW BUSINESS:

Commander Shaffer appointed Joe Long and Russell P. Jones the task of opening a checking account for the Camp.  A motion was made by Commander Shaffer and seconded by Ron Albert.  All were in favor.  The Memorial Association will be notified at their next meeting (21 October) and a motion to transfer a sum of money to the Camp will be made.  Commander Shaffer also appointed Joe Long temporary Treasurer.

November is the month in which we will nominate for new officers.  New officers will be sworn-in in December.

Joe Long suggested to the Camp members that we canvas our respective areas for a battery operated PA system to be used at Memorial Day Services.

Several members have still not paid their dues.  A final letter will be sent and if no response is received, these members will be dropped from the Camp.

Joe Long suggested that we form a Planning Committee to talk about dues, membership, etc..

With no further business or discussions, a motion to adjourn was made by Ron Albert and seconded by Russell W. Jones.  All were in favor.

Respectfully Submitted,

Robert C. Shaffer
