MONTHLY MEETING
April 14, 1994
The meeting was called to order by Camp Commander Bob Shaffer, followed by
the recital of the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes from February’s
meeting were read and approved with no changes.
There were no minutes read for the month of March because there was
no meeting.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report.
A motion to accept the report was made and it was referred to the
audit committee.
OLD BUSINESS:
Joe Long reported that 7 members still have not paid their dues.
They have been sent 4 notices with no reply.
Bob Shaffer reported that he and several members attended a talk at the
Ladies Auxiliary meeting by Pat Thomas who spoke about the ghosts of
Gettysburg.
A discussion was held on placing an ad in the Department Encampment Book.
Bill Lindberg made a motion to place a $20 (half-page) ad.
The motion was seconded by Bob Price and all were in favor.
Plans for Memorial Day are going fine.
Chairs and PA system will be taken care of by Don Cahoon, who is also
checking on a Speaker. Joe Long
will be getting the name of a Boy Scout from his area to give the Gettysburg
Address. Joe also reported that
he has not received a reply from his letter to the person contacted about
playing Taps.
NEW BUSINESS:
Commander Shaffer appointed Ron Albert, Bob Price and Russ W. Jones to a
membership committee to review the application of Mark David Myers of
Carbondale. He was approved and
proper notification will be sent to Mr. Myers.
Commander Shaffer submitted a bill for postage from Joe Long in the amount of $23.20. A motion to pay Joe was made by Russ P. Jones and seconded by Russ W. Jones. All were in favor.
Commander Shaffer also reported that the Department Commander, Bill McMaster
will be at the dinner on April 17th.
At this time, Joe Long made a motion to pay for both Bill and his wife’s
dinner and also give him a $50.00 gift.
The motion was seconded by Ron Albert.
All were in favor.
Commander Shaffer reported that one of our members, Howard Saltz, was in the
Lehigh Valley Burn Center with burn received when an explosion leveled his
house. At this time, Commander
Shaffer made a motion to send a gift of $50.00 as a gesture or good faith from
the Camp. The motion was seconded
by Joe Long. All were in favor.
Joe
Long reported on the purchase of 25 sets of raffle tickets to be used to help
the Camp with proceeds being deposited in the Camp checking account.
The tickets were purchased along with the tickets for the Auxiliary which
saved both the Camp and Auxiliary $25.00.
A motion to pay Joe was made by Commander Shaffer and seconded by Bob
Price. All were in favor.
A
discussion was also held about future speakers and Camp members giving talks
about the Civil War. Many avenues
were discussed and more will be held in the future.
It was decided that Ron Albert will give a talk at the next meeting on
Civil War Artillery and he will also bring some items with him.
A
discussion was held concerning future meetings.
It was decided that no meetings will be held in either July or August.
All members were in favor of this suggestion.
With no further business, comments or questions, a motion to adjourn was made by
Russ P. Jones and seconded by Bill Lindberg.
