MONTHLY MEETING
February
16, 1995
The
meeting was called to order by Commander Russell P. Jones, followed by the
Pledge of Allegiance.

The
minutes from the January meeting were read.
A motion to accept the minutes was made by Joe Long and seconded by
Russ W. Jones.
All were in favor.
FINANCIAL
REPORT:
Joe
Long read the financial report.
Joe also mentioned that the checking account was closed at the Third
and the new account was opened at the Mellon Bank.
The check for the March '94 Per Capita Tax was re-issued at this time.
A motion to accept the financial report was made by Bob Shaffer and
seconded by Bob Yeager.
All were in favor.
The report was accepted and referred to the audit committee.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Commander Jones received the forms required to re-do the graves at the Dunmore
Cemetery from Joe Long.
Joe will also contact the Cemetery for other information on how to go
about this task.
More in March.
Commander Jones proposed that the Camp Council do the work on changing the
By-Laws. Joe
is still looking for the Ross Camp By-Laws.
He also suggested contacting the National Secretary/Treasurer for
guidance.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Commander Jones commented on the 2 dinners held in January.
The
2nd Virginia dinner was held at the Tripp House.
The members and wives were all dressed for the occasion.
There was also a few members from a Tennessee Artillery Company
present for the evening.
The
Camp dinner at the Six East Restaurant also went very well.
Glenn Knight was unable to attend the dinner.
Arrangements were made for Carl Miller from Clarks Summit to speak.
He brought memorabilia and gave a very interesting talk.
One of the articles he brought was an unusual shell, which is one of
four in existence.
At this time, Commander Jones commented on a job well done by Mr. Miller and
made a motion to give him a one year membership in the Camp and also
to pay the initiation fee.
Bob Shaffer seconded the motion and all were in favor.
Bob
Yeager also mentioned the name of Dot Harrington, who speaks about the Phoebe
Snow of railroad fame from this area.
Joe
Long gave a list of supplies that should be kept on hand.
These included badges, certificates, leaflets, etc.
Commander Jones made a motion to set up a petty cash fund for $200 to
cover these supplies.
Bob Shaffer seconded and all were in favor.
Joe will keep a list and balance so that when it gets low we can
refurbish the account.
Commander Jones suggested that we contact the Department Commander to visit the Camp. Joe Long mentioned it would be proper of the Camp to invite him to a meeting. He also suggested having a dinner meeting in either September or October. Joe will contact him about his schedule.
With no
further questions, business or discussions, a motion to adjourn was made by Bob
Shaffer and seconded by Dennis Rightmire.
