MONTHLY MEETING
May 16, 1996
The meeting was called to order by Senior Vice Commander Russell W.
Jones, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes from the April
meeting were read.
A motion to accept the minutes was made by Joe Long and seconded
by Bill Lindberg.
All were in favor.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
The Help Fund is now at $98.50.
Ticket winner for April was Dan McGee.
81 members have paid their dues, 14 to go.
A motion to accept the Financial report was made by Bill Lindberg and
seconded by Bob Shaffer.
All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit
committee.
OLD
BUSINESS:
At this time, our
new member Jim McElroy was introduced to everyone.
Secretary Shaffer passed around a Thank You card from the First United
Methodist Church of Carbondale for the donation made to them in memory of
Bob Price.
The card had a picture of the window that was being restored.
Joe Long reported on the Essay Contest.
The winners were as follows:

Bill Lindberg suggested placing an article in the newspaper on the same day
presentations are made at the West Scranton Intermediate School.
Bill Lindberg also presented his questionnaire. Bob Shaffer made a motion to send it out with the next newsletter. Mark Myers seconded and all were in favor.
Joe Long reported that Russ W. Jones will have all of the Certificates printed.
Phil Jones reported that all the essays were well written with a lot of effort
put in to them.
Secretary Shaffer brought in the May issues of the Sterling Voice with the ad
for Memorial Day and also the Business Card Ad.
Secretary Shaffer also read the resignation of Don Cahoon as Camp
Representative to the Board of the Memorial Association.
Don will be re-instated as a Court Appointed Representative.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Joe Long suggested giving a Certificate to everyone involved in the Memorial
Day Services.
Bob Shaffer made a motion to give the Certificates and it was seconded by
Bill Lindberg.
All were in favor.
Joe Long presented a bill for $30 for the Certificates.
Bill Lindberg made a motion to pay the bill and Bob Shaffer seconded.
All were in favor.
Joe Long made a motion to pay $16.25 for half of the refreshments brought in
by the ladies.
Bill Lindberg seconded and all were in favor.
Russ W. Jones made a motion to replenish the funds of the treasurer.
His account was down to $10.
Mark Myers seconded and all were in favor.
Secretary Shaffer passed around a copy of Department Order #4 to be read by all.
Dennis Rightmire reported that his Unit would be at an Encampment at Fairview
Memorial Park in Mountaintop, PA on June 8th and 9th.
All were invited to attend.
Secretary Shaffer reported that an Open House would be held at Tobyhanna Army
Depot on May 17th and 18th.
The winner of the
50/50 drawing was Dennis Rightmire.
Dennis donated his winnings to the Help Members Fund.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was
made by Joe Long and seconded by Russ W. Jones.
