MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

April 17, 1997

 

The meeting was called to order by Commander Russell W. Jones, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Other members in attendance were:

The minutes from the March  meeting were read.  A motion to accept the minutes was made by Joe Long and seconded by Bill Lindberg.  All were in favor.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:

     Help member fund at $141.00

     February drawing won by Jim White and March unknown.

 

A motion to accept the Financial report was made by Bob Shaffer and seconded by Phil Jones.   All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit committee.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Inventory is 98% completed.  Info, letters and records on wall not done.  Joe will coordinate the final phase.  A clean-up will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 8:00 a.m.  Donuts will be brought by Bill Lindberg.

 

April 22 (rain date April 23) will be the day to place flags at the Dunmore Cemetery.  Members will meet at 5:30 p.m.

 

Tombstone project is still on hold.

 

The Camp was served with papers from the Attorney for Pritchard.  They want to know who will speak for the Camp and who will be witnesses.  They are also asking for any information that we have that will be used in the trial.  We must reply by May 5.

 

Russ P. Jones is still checking into the phone.

 

Essay Contest - Phil and Russ W. Jones to review along with the teacher, Betty Elvidge.

 

Dinner Reimbursement - Discussion held, and assuming the By-Laws substantiated, the motion was carried.  Phil Jones checked the By-Laws.

 

Memorial Day - Bob Shaffer will do the program and Joe Long will furnish details.

 

Bill Lindberg suggested personal meetings with members should be held to try to get them to attend our meetings.  He also invited everyone to his and Ruth’s Memorial Day cookout.  Please contact either Bill or Ruth to make arrangements for a covered dish or dessert.

 

Bill Lindberg and Joe Long will be attending the Department and National Encampments.  If you have anything that needs to be addressed, please contact them with your information.

 

Joe Long reported that the dinner with the Department Commander and Ladies President went well.  A presentation of $15.00 and a small lapel pin was made to the Commander.  He spoke about the Museum and how we are keeping it maintained.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Joe Long presented a bill for $109.00 to replenish the Treasurer/Historian Expense Account.

 

Russ W. Jones discussed the issue of acquiring artifacts for the museum.  Joe Long suggested we contact Carl Miller and Ron Albert.

 

It was then suggested that we adjourn our meeting so that Alan Sweeney could talk to us about the Save Our Sculpture Organization.

 

50/50 drawing won by Phil Jones who donated $3.00 of his winnings to the Help Fund.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by Bob Shaffer and seconded by Bill Lindberg.  All were in favor.
