MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

May 14, 1997

 

The meeting was called to order by Commander Russell W. Jones, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Other members in attendance were:

The minutes from the April  meeting were read.  A motion to accept the minutes was made by Bill Lindberg and seconded by Russell P. Jones.  All were in favor.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:

     Financial report for April and May at June meeting.

     Closing balance was $1,843.96.

     Help member fund at $152.00.

     April drawing won by Dan McGee.

     3 members have still not paid their dues.

 

A motion to accept the Financial report was made by Bob Shaffer and seconded by Russ P. Jones .   All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit committee.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

The clean-up of the Museum has been postponed.  Discussion will be held at next meeting concerning clean-up and an Open House.

 

Flags were placed at 2 Cemeteries: Forest Hill and Dunmore.  Two Detachments were involved with this:

 

First - Dunmore, April 22, consisting of Bill Lindberg, Joe Long, Howard Lane, Russell W. Jones and Russell P. Jones.

Second - Forest Hill, April 29, consisting of Joe Long, Howard Lane, Russell W. Jones and Russell P. Jones.

 

Three members will be attending the Historical Society Dinner: Joe Long, Howard Lane and Bill Lindberg.

 

The Memorial Day cookout at the Lindberg’s has been canceled.

 

Phone issue is still on hold.

 

Memorial Day - everything has been sent out and the Program is done.  Secretary Shaffer brought in a sample for everyone to see.  Participants in the Ceremony will receive Certificates.  Carl Miller will handle the Abington's: 5 Cemeteries and 1 VFW.

           

NEW BUSINESS:

There was a presentation of a Certificate of Membership made to Howard Lane.

 

Russell P. Jones brought in a copy of a “Military Collectors Journal” which is published by Russ Pritchard and others.  It also contained a list of organizations Pritchard belongs to.

 

Secretary Shaffer read a Resolution for Support concerning Glenn B. Knight for the Office of Department Commander.

 

Secretary Shaffer had two computers donated to the Museum for their use.  They came with the CPU, mouse and keyboard.  All that is needed ate two monitors.  Issue to be brought up at the Memorial Association meeting.

 

Joe Long suggested a donation to the re-enactors.  Discussion was held and final thoughts were the same as last year: one donation.

 

Bill Lindberg reported that the News Media has been contacted concerning Memorial Day.

 

50/50 drawing, Help Members Fund, won by Russell W. Jones.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, a  motion to adjourn was made by Joe Long and seconded by Bob Shaffer.  All were in favor.
