MONTHLY MEETING
September 18, 1997
The meeting was called to order by Commander Russell W. Jones,
followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes from the June
meeting were read.
A motion to accept the minutes was made by Joe Long and seconded
by Bill Lindberg.
All were in favor.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
Joe reported on July balance $1,880.37.
Received $46 interest on CD in July ($3,125.21).
End balance for July was $1,808.35
Received $75 from County for placing flags.
End balance for August was $1,763.75
CD interest year to date $125.21
End balance for September was $1,876.78.
The members help fund has a balance of $168.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Bill Lindberg has been calling various members (about 8 or 9 calls).
Most people are busy.
James Douglas was due at this meeting but had a death in the
family.
Bill will continue to call members during the time between meetings.
Bill mentioned that people appreciate the calls.
Fourth of July - Joe Long, Russ P. Jones, Mark Myers and Howard
Lane represented the Camp.
We decided to table the discussion on an Open House and clean-up until a
future meeting.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Russ P. Jones made a report on recent developments on the cannon case.
Dunmore is planning a parade 1 week before Memorial Day in 1998.
We are considering whether to attend.
Al Sweeney wants to meet with Joe to discuss the 100th anniversary of the
Spanish American War.
Joe brought applications for two members: James Edward Milford and Edward
Raymond Milford.
The applications were reviewed by Bob Yeager, Phil Jones and Russ P. Jones.
Joe read a request from the Council of Veterans for a donation for the Annual
Christmas Party.
Joe made a motion to send $50, seconded by Bill Lindberg.
All were in favor.
Bill Lindberg mad a report on the Encampment.
He was elected Dept. Patriotic Instructor.
Glenn Knight will visit us in the spring.
Joe made a motion to take $1,000 from the treasury to purchase another CD.
Motion was seconded by Bob Yeager.
All were in favor.
Carl Miller brought in two speakers that we may be able to use with the sound
system.
A letter of thanks was
received from the Dept. Commander, Ivan Frantz concerning his visit on April
12th.
The help members drawing
was won by Russ P. Jones.
With no further
business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by Joe Long and
seconded by Phil Jones.
