MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

December 19, 1997

 

The meeting was called to order by Commander Russ W. Jones, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Other members in attendance were:

Charles Jones Jim Milford Ed Milford
Joe Long Mark Myers Russ P. Jones

 

The minutes from the November  meeting were approved as read.  A motion to accept the minutes was made by Russ P. Jones and seconded by Mark Myers.  All were in favor.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:

     End Balance as of November - $1,029.74

     $194.00 in Members Help fund

     35 Members have paid their 1998 dues.

 

A motion to accept the Financial report was made.   All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit committee.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Joe and Russ attended the hearing and deposition as scheduled.

 

Joe received the military records of Ezra S. Griffin.  They will be displayed in the Museum

 

Joe sent a letter to Ed Faatz saying that we would march in the parade to represent the G.A.R., Camp and Spanish American War Veterans on the Sunday before Memorial Day.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Joe presented receipts for $124.27 to replenish the treasurers expense account.  A motion to replenish the account was made by Charles Jones and seconded by Ed Milford.  All were in favor.

 

Joe hosted 8 people including Al Sweeney at the Museum on the night of December 18th to organize the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Spanish American War.  An exhibit will be presented February 15th at the Lackawanna Historical Society.

 

A motion was made by Russ P. Jones and seconded by Bob Yeager to appoint Phil C. Jones to the office of director of the memorial association for the term of 5 years.

 

Help members fund drawing was won by Ed Milford.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by Russ P. Jones and seconded by Joe Long.  All were in favor.  At this time, the meeting was closed and nominations were re-opened.  No further nominations were received and the nominations stood.

 

There was only one nomination for each office and a motion was made by Charles Jones and seconded by Ed Milford that the secretary cast one vote for all offices.  The motion carried.

 

Commander Jones appointed the following members:

Chaplain: Mark Myers

Patriotic Instructor: Charles Jones

Guide: Bob Yeager

Color Bearer: Ed Milford

Guard: Jim Milford

 

A motion to close elections was made by Russ P. Jones and seconded by Jim Milford.  All were in favor.
