MONTHLY MEETING
March 19, 1998
The meeting was called to order by Commander Russ W. Jones, followed by the
Pledge of Allegiance, after which our new member, Earl Folk, was sworn in by
Commander Jones.

The minutes from the January meeting were approved as read.
A motion to accept the minutes was made by Bill Lindberg and
seconded by Dennis Rightmire.
All were in favor.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
68 members have paid their dues
$1,509.97 in checking account
Members help fund at $206.00
A motion to accept the Financial report was made by Bill Lindberg and
seconded by Ron Albert.
All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit
committee.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Joe received a letter confirming our participation in the Memorial Day
parade in Dunmore on May 24th.
Camp flag will be carried by Mark Myers.
Dennis Rightmire will carry the
G.A.R. flag and Ed Walter will carry the Spanish American War
flag.
The guest speaker for Memorial Day has been confirmed.
It will be the History Professor from the University of Scranton,
Robert Hueston.
The pledge of allegiance is confirmed.
Joe and Russ will look into a sound system.
Commander’s Dinner - we could not agree on a date.
He suggested that he visit us on the night of a camp meeting.
We will suggest he visit us on April 16th, which is the
next camp meeting.
Everything is on
track for the essay contest at the middle school.
Phil Jones, along with a member of the auxiliary, will read and
decide.
Joe will make the awards on May 5th.
NEW BUSINESS:
Joe made a motion to take out a $20.00 ad, seconded by Bill Lindberg, for the
National
On Monday, Joe attended a planning meeting for the National Encampment.
The registration fee is $7.00 and includes a metal badge with an
engraving of the PA monument.
Bill made a motion that the camp pay the registration fee for any camp
member who attends.
Ron Albert seconded the motion.
The motion passed with one member opposed.
At the next meeting, Joe would like the names of all members
attending.
Dennis Rightmire reported that there will be a Civil War event at the farm show
complex this weekend.
Dennis also reported
that Ed Bruer from the Civil War Round Table, has a nice presentation on Joshua
Lawrence Chamberlain.
We will ask him to make his presentation at a future dinner, either
October 17th or 24th.
Ron Albert brought in an 1863 Smith carbine breach loader to show the camp.
Help members drawing was won by Mark Myers.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was
made by Phil Jones and seconded by Bill Lindberg.
