MONTHLY MEETING
October 21, 1999
The meeting was called to order by Commander Phil C. Jones, followed by the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Other members in attendance were:

The minutes from the September
meeting were approved as read.
A motion to accept the minutes was made by Russ P. Jones and seconded by
Russ W. Jones. All were in
favor.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
Help members fund $262.50
Ticket winner for October - Frank Mesaris
1 member was dropped and all other members have paid dues for 1999
A motion to accept the Financial report was made by Russ P. Jones and
seconded by Ron Albert.
All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit committee.
OLD BUSINESS:
Testimonial Dinner for Mary Jo Long will be held on October 30, 1999 at the
Allied Services Corporate Center at 1:00 p.m.
There will be a Courtesy Room set up at the Hotel from 4 - 7 p.m.
The Museum will be open from 4 - 6 p.m. and will be staffed by Ron
Albert. A clean-up will be done
by Russ P. Jones and Phil Jones and anyone else that wishes to lend a hand
on Saturday morning October 23.
The Veteran’s Parade will be held on Sunday, November 7, 1999 in Scranton at
1:30 p.m. Phil Jones and Mark
Myers are tentative members to march.
Joe Long made a motion to give Attorney Frank Brier a 1 year Associate
Membership in recognition for his services on the cannon case.
Bob Shaffer seconded and all were in favor.
Cannon - Russ P. Jones will get more information on the verdict on
the case. He also reported that
all artifacts and records used by the Attorney’s have been returned to the
Museum.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Secretary Shaffer read the following correspondence:
Mid-year meeting at Carlisle from Commander Young.
Camp Communication from Commander Young
Past Commander’s and Presidents Dinner from George Long
Secretary Shaffer also talked about buying CD’s from Broadfoot Publishing
concerning Union and Confederate Veterans.
They were not completely finished, so further discussion to be held when
project is complete.
Joe
Long made a motion to donate $100.00 dollars toward the Life Membership of
Secretary Shaffer for all the work he has done for the Camp inputting
information into the computer. Ron
Albert seconded and all were in favor.
Joe
Long showed a wooden box which was to have belonged to the Col. William Monies
Post. The box might have held the
stone and gavel for the meetings.
He will present it at the Memorial Association Meeting for purchase at the cost
of $100.00.
Treasurer Long also made mention that the Per Capita Tax will be increasing
from$3.75 to $4.25 per member per quarter as of January 2000.
He stated that we should think about raising our dues somewhere in the
2001 time frame. More discussion to
follow.
The
50/50 drawing was won by Russ P. Jones.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made
by Joe Long and seconded by Bob
Shaffer. All were in favor.
