MONTHLY MEETING
January 18, 2001
The meeting was called to order by Commander Phil Jones, followed by the Pledge
of Allegiance.

There were no minutes due to the absence of the Secretary.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
19 Members have paid their dues.
December 9 ticket winner - Mary Jane Bannan
January 6 ticket winner - Mary Jane Bannan
Help members fund $240.00.
End Balance as of January 9 –
$479.99
Joe also reported that Life Memberships are no longer being accepted.
A motion to accept the financial report was made by Ron Albert and seconded
by Howard Lane.
All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit committee.
OLD BUSINESS:
Due to the inclement weather, the Department Commander decided not to
visit.
A basket was delivered to Bob Yeager and his wife.
Steamtown – the project is moving along and the Exhibit should be
open in February.
Joe will talk to Secretary Shaffer about making up a one page information
sheet about our Organization to be displayed with the exhibit.
The value of the Miller collection now stands at $41,000.
Joe feels the swords will remain as part of the collection.
Russ P. Jones has found another carpenter to work on the bookshelves and will
meet with him at the Museum to get estimates.
NEW BUSINESS:
Next Wednesday night, January 24th at 7:00 p.m., John Getty will present “An Evening with Mr. Lincoln” at the Lackawanna County Historical Society.
Russ P. Jones nominated Russell W. Jones and Joseph Long Jr. for 5 year terms on the Memorial Association Board. Ron Albert seconded and all were in favor.
Ron Albert reported that member John Ferry is in the hospital.
The newly elected Officers present were sworn in. Past Commander Phil C. Jones was presented with the Past Camp Commander’s Badge.
Russ P. Jones brought up the idea of a work session at the Museum. We will discuss it at the next meeting.
Al Sweeney will contact Joe with a contact name from 3M Company about ultra violet protection for the windows.
The Department Encampment will be held in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on June 21
– 23, 2001.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was
made by Russ P. Jones and seconded by Ron Albert.
