MONTHLY MEETING
The meeting was called to order by Commander Phil Jones, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes from the June meeting were approved as read.
A motion to accept the minutes was made by Russ P. Jones and seconded
by Russ W. Jones.
All were in favor.
There were no meetings held during the months of July and August.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
End balance for July was $1,730.60
Help members fund $233.50
99 members have paid their dues
End balance for August was 1, 374.75
Help members fund $233.50
106 members have paid their dues
End balance for September was 1,375.99
Help members fund $233.50
106 members have paid their dues
$36.00 received from National for Life Members
$1,161.86 received from CD’s to date
A motion to accept the financial report was made Bob Shaffer and seconded by Ron
Albert. All were in favor and the report and the report was referred to the
audit committee.
OLD BUSINESS:
Joe and MaryJo Long attended the Testimonial for Department Commander. They will attend more functions in the weeks to come. Joe has reported that the Department Mid-Year meeting will be held at the Gettysburg GAR Hall on November 7th. Urged all members to attend.
April 6th is the date set for the Appomattox Day Dinner to be held
in
Cannon – Don Cahoon had sent word that Pritchard had settled
with Pickett and he should be
be close to a settlement with us, probably to the $50,00 range.
Essay contest was tabled.
July 4th – Honor the Flag Ceremony went well.
NEW BUSINESS:
Secretary Shaffer presented Correspondence which concerned General Orders and
the draping of our Charter in respect to the September 11th
atrocities.
Joe will make copies of pictures from the Primetime Meeting.
A motion to make copies for all members present was made by Russ P.
Jones and seconded by Bob Shaffer.
All in favor.
Joe also reported that the Scranton Education Society will be presenting him
with a Certificate recognizing him for his 22 years of visiting classes in the
Russ P. Jones reported that he visited
Joe reported that Joe Flannery wrote an article about the two Medal of Honor
winners from this area, DeLacy and Delaney.
They will be trying to raise $30,000 to erect a monument to them in
