OLD BUSINESS:
Joe Flannery did not show up for the meeting.
Joe called him and left a message, but no reply.
Howard Wolfe brought in the mug to be given at the luncheon.
It will have the Sons emblem and the Camp name on it.
It turned out very nice and will a very worthwhile memento.
Secretary Shaffer checked the previous minutes, but did not find any
account for the motion to have the mugs made, but the members did say a
discussion was held and that everyone was in approval for the Camp to have the
mugs done by Howard Wolfe.
The mugs will be given to all Sons attending the Appomattox Day
Luncheon.
NEW BUSINESS:
Webelos II Pack #34 of Jessup sent a donation of $10.00 to the Camp after
their tour and Joe Long’s presentation at the Museum.
Secretary Shaffer will send a thank you letter.
At this time, Secretary Shaffer presented Commander Albert with the
membership applications of Donald E. Northup and Keefe R. Quinn (Bob Price’s
Grandson). A
membership committee of Joe Long, Bob Baker and Phil Jones reviewed the
applications and gave their approval.
Secretary Shaffer read a correspondence from the Everhart Museum on the
subject of loaning items to display in their Civil War exhibit.
Joe Long suggested we only loan them certain items, such as, the
picture of the Everhart, bullet board from Carl Miller and the picture of the
Gettysburg Address with Lincoln’s picture.
It was decided to have a special meeting of the Memorial Association
to decide this matter.
Bob Baker reported that there is an on-going project in Florence, SC to try
to identify all the men buried at this cemetery, one of which is Ezra Ripple.
Secretary Shaffer made a motion to take out a
full-page ad in the Encampment Booklet in memory of Carl Miller and also a half
page ad from the Camp with all the Officers.
Russ W. Jones seconded and all were in favor.
Joe also suggested that we begin thinking of Memorial Day.
We will contact Father McLaughlin from the University of Scranton.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was
made by Bob Shaffer and seconded by Russ W. Jones.
All were in favor.
