MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

March 20, 2003

 

The meeting was called to order by Commander Ron Albert, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Other members in attendance were:

The minutes for the February meeting were read. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Russ W. Jones and seconded by Howard Wolfe. All were in favor.

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:

     End balance as of March 20, 2003: $4,730.71

     End balance as of March 2003: $2,530.71

     94 members have paid their 2003 dues

     February 1, 2003 ticket winner - Ralph Homyack

     March 1, 2003 ticket winner - Dan Fogarty

  Deposited $216.00 for luncheon as of March 20, 2003. Should have final accounting of luncheon at next meeting.

 

A motion to accept the financial report was made by Bob Baker and seconded by Russ W. Jones. All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit committee.

OLD BUSINESS:

Discussion about the luncheon. Joe Long reported that everything was set up and ready to go.

NEW BUSINESS:

Joe Long Made a motion that the Memorial Association & Camp take out an ad in the Encampment Book. A motion to accept was made by Russ W. Jones and seconded by Howard Wolfe. All were in favor.

 

The Camp Essay Contest will be held on April 23, 2003. The prizes will be as follows: 1st Prize - $100 Savings Bond, 2nd Prize - $75 Savings Bond and 3rd Prize - $50 Savings Bond, all to be paid by the Camp and a donation of $100 from Betty O'Connor in honor of her grandfather, a Civil War Veteran from the Peckville Post. Joe Long made a motion that the Camp use $12.50 towards the Essay Prizes which would be added to the donation. A motion to accept was made by Russ W. Jones and seconded by Bob Baker. All were in favor.

Howard Wolfe provided information about sound systems for replacement of the current system.

 

Joe Long stated that we are in need of a Speaker for Memorial Day Service. A slight discussion concerning Memorial Day was held, but nothing definite.

 

New member application for Scott Robert Teeters. Motion to accept the application made by Bob Baker and seconded by Russ W. Jones. All were in favor.

 

Howard Wolfe made the 2 plaques for presentation to Don Cahoon from the Camp and the Miller family from the Memorial Association. A motion to pay Howard for the plaques was made by Joe Long and seconded by John Schaefer. All were in favor. Note: Cost of plaques to be added to minutes of April meeting.

 

Meeting for April to be a week later because of the Easter Holiday.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by Joe Long and seconded by Mike Grayson. All were in favor.
