MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

April 24, 2003

 

The meeting was called to order by Commander Ron Albert, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Other members in attendance were:

The minutes for the March meeting were read. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Russ P. Jones and seconded by John Schaefer. All were in favor.

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:

     99 members have paid their 2003 dues

     3 members to be dropped: Robert Long, Melvin Gross and Arthur Everett

     End balance for April - $2,920.94 of which $2100 will be sent in for the per capita tax.

     Ticket winner for March 29, 2003: Josephine Keller

     Ticket winner for April 12, 2003: Mary Mazzacaro

     37 members and 8 guests attended the luncheon.  The total cost was $744.75 of which the Camp paid $74.75

 

A motion to accept the financial report was made by Phil Jones and seconded by Howard Wolfe. All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit committee.

OLD BUSINESS:

Joe Long reported that the luncheon went very well. A thank you letter was received from Don Cahoon.

 

The sound system was discussed and tabled until the next meeting.

 

Reverend Fred C. Snyder will speak at out Memorial Day services.

 

Essay Contest was a success. Joe Long will provide a list of winners at the May meeting.

 

The list for the Memorial Day Program is as follows: Speaker – Rev. Fred C. Snyder; Master of Ceremonies – Phillip C. Jones; Pledge of Allegiance – Phillip C. Jones; Gettysburg Address – Howard to look into a Scout; Chaplain & Lords Prayer – Father Neil McLaughlin; Re-Enactors – 2nd VA Volunteers and Bill Burns WWII. Joe Long will contact Don Cahoon about the chairs and contact the Cemetery about using the Chapel.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Howard Wolfe and Joe Long met with Bob Schweitzer from the Everhart Museum about identifying the artifacts in the Museum. The process would end with a permanent record book and computer log. He will research a few more things and get back to us.

 

Next meeting to be held on May 15, 2003.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by Joe Long and seconded by Phil Jones. All were in favor.
