OLD BUSINESS:
It was reported that Memorial Day went very well despite the rainy and
overcast conditions. It was noted that a Committee comprised of
Camp Members
and Ladies will be setup in the March timeframe to discuss and prepare for
Memorial Day activities. The Ladies tour of the cemetery went very well. Channel
16 was present to report on our services. Joe Long suggested we try to get more
coverage for next year.
4th of July - As it stands: Joe Long will carry the G.A.R. Flag and Howard Wolfe will represent the Camp. Members to
carry the Spanish American Flag and the Camp Flag
are still needed.
NEW BUSINESS:
A general discussion was held concerning the Encampment which is to be held
in Scranton in 2005. It was
stated that we need to get Committees organized to proceed with the details of
the Encampment, that is, Encampment Booklet, Banquets, Rooms, Entertainment,
etc. It was also suggested that we contact local businesses about ads in the
booklet and maybe we could organize to Steamtown, the
Trolley Museum
and the Coal Mine Tour. It was suggested that we take a ½ hour session with the
Ladies at our September meeting to discuss what goes on. A letter will also be
sent to the membership notifying them of this meeting and asking all members to
attend.
Secretary Shaffer reported he had no correspondence.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was
made by Joe Long and seconded by Howard Wolfe. All were in favor.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert C. Shaffer
