MONTHLY MEETING
EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8
The meeting was called to order by Commander Howard Wolfe followed by
the Pledge of Allegiance.

FINANCIAL REPORT:
January ticket winner was Pat Mazzaccaro
90 members have paid their dues, 1 may be dropped
Deposit of $903.40 for dues and tickets
Ending balance currently was $3,542.52
Audit of the books will be held before the March meeting with the Council Members doing the audit
A motion to accept the financial report was made by Ray Sulger and seconded by Ron Albert. All were in favor.
At this time, PDC and PCC Joe Long installed the Officers for the
upcoming year.
OLD BUSINESS:
The Department Commander will be visiting the Camp some time in April.
Will discuss more at the March meeting.
Department Commander Kern visited the family of Brother Christopher Geiger
who died while serving his country overseas.
The family was presented with a badge and certificate.
Secretary Shaffer read a resolution from the Department of Rhode Island
backing Brother Leo F. Kennedy for the National Council of Administration.
Joe Long reported that his nephew, Richard R. Long has become a full member.
He had previously been a Junior member.
Commander Wolfe appointed a membership committee consisting of Ray Sulger,
Alan Sweeney, Camp member and President of the Lackawanna County Historical
Society, sent Joe a letter requesting we think over the idea of participating in
the refurbishment of the Soldier and
Bob Baker made a motion that the Camp back Ron Albert in applying for a grant
from National for the restoration of the Civil War Monument in Montrose.
Ray Sulger seconded and all were in favor.
NEW BUSINESS:
Commander Wolfe recognized new member Mike Cups and also presented him with a
certificate.
Associate member Jeff Krause was also given a certificate.
It was suggested we consider a committee for Memorial Day.
We will also begin our monthly talks on the Encampment to be held in
PDC Charles Kuhn and Junior Vice Commander Lee Walters were present in Summit
Hill when the Court upheld a ruling to return the cannons to the rightful
owners. Joe
Long was also present at the hearing in Jim Thorpe.
New member David Wargo is from Summit Hill and the whole Camp welcomes
him.
Scott Teeters brought in the end caps for the tube housing the tattered flag
and Commander Wolfe brought the plaque for the outside.
Joe Long nominated
While Joe Long was helping Don Cahoon move, they found a kepi and certificate
from his grandfather William E. Cahoon which he donated to the Museum.
At this time, being there were no other nominations; Russ asked that the secretary cast his vote to close the nominations by acclimation. Secretary Shaffer then did so.
