DISTRESSED MEMBER:

Commander Wolf asked if anyone knew of a sick brother?  Joe long replied that Camp member Victor Fox was in need of a liver transplant for some time. It came to a point where he had to have one right away, so his wife gave part of hers.  Both will be unable to work for a while Joe long made a motion to donate $100.00 as both of the Fox’s have been very active in the Allied orders for a long time.  The motion was 2nd by Ray Sulger . A vote was taken and it passed unanimously.

It was mentioned that the help fund needs to be replenished.  Commander Wolfe said he would like to see it at $500.00 and kept there. Ways were suggested on how to maintain it at that amount.  It was suggested we sell 50/50 tickets at each meeting

COMMITTEES:

The commander asked for a report from committees. The only one was the Encampment committee .  Joe reported that it went very well All bills were paid except one. “seed” money was returned.

CORRESPONDENCE:

Commander Wolfe read Department order No. 1  issued by Dept. Commander Schmincke.  It can be found on the Dept. Website. One correction was made to that order, the Dept. Per Capita was only raised $1.00 not $2.00

OLD BUSINESS:

July 4th Flag Ceremony at Nay Aug Park was attended by Joe Long, Howard Wolfe, Russ Jones, Bob Sulger, John Hart Jr. Andrew Xanthis, Jeff Krause, and Mike Grayson. A good time was had by all.

NEW BUSINESS:

Joe Long obtained about 100  Civil War letters from some ladies. They were copied to CD Rom by Marywood  and will be receiving a copy.  Joe will put them in Binders by year.

Saturday Sept. 24th in Summit Hill, PA, a rededication Ceremony will be held for the illegally sold cannons that were sold and recovered. It starts a 1 PM .

On the weekend of Sept. 10th,  members of the Delany DeLacy Guard traveled to Plymouth PA. to participate in the 136th Anniversary of the Avondale mine disaster. It still stands as the worst in Anthracite History with a death total of 110 men and boys. Among them were several Civil War Veterans.  One was an ancestor of Camp members Robert and Ray Sulger.  Robert & Ray also attended the Ceremony held the following day at Washburn Cemetery, but not in uniform.

The Christmas Party will be planned at the October meeting. The Appomattox luncheon will also discussed as there was confusion concerning the date.

Mike Grayson brought up a suggestion of changing the meeting night from Thursday to Wednesday because the practice for our Fife and Drum Corps can only be on Thursday night.  After much discussion, it was decided to table the discussion until next month because many members were not present.

We will have election of officers at the October meeting. All current officers are asked to attend.

With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made and the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.

Respectfully submitted,

Raymond Sulger for

Robert C. Shaffer
