MONTHLY MEETING
EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8
October 20, 2005
The meeting was called to order by Commander Howard Wolfe in ritualistic manner followed
by the Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call of Officers.

The minutes from the September meeting were read by Ray Sulger.
After an update dropping the request to change the meeting night from
Mike Grayson, a motion to accept the minutes was made by Robert Baker and
seconded by Joe Long.
All were in favor.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
$544.39 was deposited to checking account
$23.00 was dues for Dave Wargo
September 17 ticket winner was Mel Turis
October 17 ticket winner was Doris Carey
End balance was $1872.85 as of 10-20-05
A motion to accept the financial report was made by Robert Baker and seconded
by Robert
Sulger. All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit committee.
DISTRESSED MEMBER:
Joe long reported that Camp member Victor Fox and his wife Cindy were doing fine
and are recovering at home.
NOMINATION OF OFFICERS:
The following members were nominated;

Treasurer: Joseph Long
All other
Joe long asked if anyone was interested in taking over the position of
Treasurer as he would like to step aside.
It was also said that he would like to teach everyone how to do the
job in case he was unable to do so. Russ Jones also suggested that if our
Secretary was unable to attend a meeting that we take turns at taking the
minutes so everyone knows how.
OLD BUSINESS:
The Appomattox Luncheon will be held on April 22, 2006 at the Radisson in
The letters obtained by Joe Long are in binders at the Museum.
A CD-ROM will be coming soon.
Suggestions for replenishing the Help Fund were discussed and suggested we
come up with something that can be sold to all members of the Allied orders
through the "Banner". Any suggestions would be appreciated.
NEW BUSINESS:
Joe Long brought in a roster from 1982, pointing out that only 4 members on that
list are still living.
Dues for 2006 are now being accepted by Joe Long, they are $30.00. He will be
mailing notices out in the near future. SVR members will be contacted by John
Hart for dues to both camp & SVR.
Remembrance Day will be held on November 19, 2005 with a dinner at the
Eisenhower Inn.
Tickets are $25.00 and the deadline is Nov.11.
Information is on the National website.
The SVR breakfast is also at the Eisenhower at 8:00 AM. SVR members
and their families are invited.
The cost is $10:00.

That evening there will also be Civil War Ball at the Eisenhower. Tickets are
$15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door.

For return of tickets send a stamped envelope , after Nov. 11 the tickets
will be held for pickup at the door.
Our thoughts & Prayers go out to brother Scott Teeters and his family on the
loss of their home in a fire while they were at church. A suggestion that was
brought before the camp to replace both Scott and his Son Douglas’s badges was
turned down by Scott because his insurance will cover the cost of replacement.
However, the Camp did vote to pay their dues for 2006 with
contributions from Camp members
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made
and the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
