MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

November 17, 2005

 

The meeting was called to order by Commander Howard Wolfe in ritualistic manner followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call of Officers.

 

Other members in attendance were:

The minutes from the October meeting were read by Bob Baker.  A motion to accept the minutes was made by Alan Sweeney and seconded by Bob Sulger.  All were in favor.                  

           

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:                    

     End balance was $2,013.33

     55 members have paid their dues

 

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:

The following members were elected to their respective offices by a verbal vote of approval:

Commander: Robert L. Baker

Sr. Vice: John M. Hart Jr.

Jr. Vice: Ray Sulger

Secretary: Robert Shaffer

Treasurer: Joseph Long

 

All other Camp officers will be appointed by the new Commander as per regulations.

           

A new member, Dale Keklock, was introduced by John Hart.  He also said that Reverend Harris, the Pastor of St. Paul’s Parish, was filling out paperwork to become a member and volunteered to serve as our Chaplain.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Al Sweeney stated he has written a half-hour play to be presented at the Appomattox Luncheon to be held on April 22, 2006 at the Radisson in Scranton at 12:00PM - 2:30 PM in Ballroom 1.  He said an actor has been selected to play all the roles for $125.00.

 

There was a discussion of the price per person for the dinner, to be resolved.  John Hart suggested the luncheon should be advertised so we could get more people to attend.

 

Joe Long has received more Civil War letters for a collection donated by a family.  He said he has not heard from his contacts at Marywood College, who promised to transfer copies of the letters to a CD.

             

NEW BUSINESS:

At this point in the meeting, Captain Hart called upon Bob Sulger to escort Al Sweeny forward.  Captain Hart then read orders promoting Second Lieutenant Al Sweeny to the rank of First Lieutenant.  Captain Hart said more honors were to follow at the SVR Remembrance Day breakfast to be held at Eisenhower Inn, Gettysburg on November 19, 2005 at 8:00 AM.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made and the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
