MONTHLY MEETING
May 15, 2008
The meeting was called to order by Commander John Hart Jr. in ritualistic manner followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call of Officers.

The minutes from the March meeting were read and a motion to approve was
made by Joe Ferrara and seconded by Ray Sulger.
All were in favor.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
Help money was $ 196.50
Walter Serowinski won the May drawing
End balance was $2,149.16
A motion to accept this report was made by Bob Shaffer and seconded by
bob Sulger.
All were in favor.
COMMITTEES:
Dues Committee has not been able to meet as of yet.
Commander Hart emphasized that we are where we are by
the good graces of the Mayor and City Council.
He added that nothing is set in stone so we should
consider a contingency plan just in case we must move in somewhat the same
manner we left our former location.
He suggested we appoint a committee to do just that.
No further discussion.
OLD BUSINESS:
Memorial Day is good to go: chairs, tent, etc.
Commander Hart reported that God willing, Lt. Al Sweeney
will be the guest Speaker.
Bob Sulger made a motion that we present a citation and
plaque to Lt. Sweeney for all he has done for the area, monument restoration and
all.
Bob Shaffer seconded and all were in favor.
The following people will have these rolls:
Pledge of Allegiance, Lt. O’Malley; Opening Prayer and
Benediction, Chaplain Scott Teeters; Gettysburg Address, Valedictorian of holy
Cross (Cdr. Hart will check on this).
Commander Hart reported that the Pennsylvania
Sesquicentennial
would go on for 5 years and all Historical Societies in the area would try to
come up with ideas to help local schools learn the history of the Civil War.
There would be trunks loaded with material sent to the
schools with this information.
The ladies would most likely have tea parties and such
to learn how the ladies of the Civil War soldiers lived on a daily basis.
Bob Sulger made a motion to send a letter of appreciation to the
gentleman who brought his Civil War collection to the Ball.
Rich Ryczak seconded and all were in favor.
Commander Hart asked Secretary Shaffer to draft and sent
the letter.
NEW BUSINESS:
Secretary Shaffer reported that one member was re-instated to the Camp
and we had an application for another new member: Kenneth Lee Walter Sr.
Commander Hart appointed a committee consisting of Bob
Baker and Ray Sulger to review the application.
A motion was made by Ray Sulger that we accept this
application.
Bob Shaffer seconded and all were in favor.
Joe Long reported that the current setup for the meeting room is great
and all work is going well.
He added that he hopes that the Museum will be in full
swing by July.
Secretary Shaffer reported that he was contacted by e-mail by Mr. Roland
Feister concerning a document for the 50 year certificate of a Mr. Leberman.
He said if we wanted it to hang on our walls, he would
graciously send it to us.
He replied with a big OK, but has not heard back from
him.
A half dozen e-mails were sent, but still no reply.
He will continue to try to contact this man.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made and the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
