MEMBERS IN DISTRESS:

OLD BUSINESS:
A discussion was held on sending cards to members in distress.
Chaplain Teeters said that he had not received them as of yet.
Howard Wolfe volunteered to make these cards and sent them to Chaplain
Teeters.
Secretary Shaffer made a motion that Howard Wolfe make up cards for members in
distress and send them to Chaplain Teeters.
Joe Ferrara seconded and all were in favor.
Memorial Day went well and was well attended.
A discussion followed as to how the day should be run next year, and
for that matter, all subsequent years.
Joe Long suggested that we return to our previous ways when the Camp,
Auxiliary and all others had a say as to what was presented.
This meant contacting members who had participated as veterans of the
other Armed Forces.
We would also get a Scout or younger member for the Gettysburg Address
and Pledge of Allegiance.
Howard Wolfe agreed that the Commander should be in charge, but he
should have more participation by Camp members and ladies.
Scott Teeters suggested that the Camp and SVR should not be
adversaries, but should work together as a unit.
Joe reiterated that everyone should know what is going on for any
event scheduled by the Camp.
Sr. Vice Commander Ray Sulger stated that we were very short handed and
wanted to thank Dale Keklock and Bob Sulger for getting the chairs for the
ceremony, and also Chet Kowalski for helping them to return the chairs.
He also thanked Junior member Doug Teeters for carrying a flag from
the gate to the plot.
It was his first time out as an SVR member.
Ray also mentioned that all flags should be carried at these events.
Joe Long again suggested that we raise the dues to $31.00 to help with
postage for upcoming mailings.
He also reported that when he sends dues notices out next year, there
will be a block there for any member who wishes to make a donation to the Camp.
A motion was made by Joe Long to raise the dues to $31.00, put the
donation statement on the notice and send to all members of the Camp.
The motion was seconded by Bob Sulger and all were in favor.
NEW BUSINESS:
Joe Long reported that at the Flag Day Ceremony at Nay Aug in July, all three
flags will be carried:
GAR, Spanish American and Camp.
Carriers scheduled are Joe Long, Bob Sulger, Ray Sulger and possibly
Douglas Teeters.
Mike Grayson reported that the Olyphant Post 414 flag may be ready and
possible carriers would be Russ Jones or Dale Keklock, pending permission by
Francis Tyson.
Mike also stated that the Waters Post merged with the Griffin Post in 1904.
Howard Wolfe laminated pieces of the old flag and had a reproduction
made to carry.
Scott Teeters will check on getting 20 holders made to hold the various flags
at Nay Aug for next year.
Joe Long will once again take the Camp Bible to the Department Encampment.
MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION:
Sr. Vice Commander Sulger appointed Joe Ferrara and Mike Grayson to review
the application for new member Robert E. Hanrahan Jr.
A motion to accept the application was made and approved contingent on
getting a proof of ancestry to accompany application to the National
Organization.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made
and the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
