OLD BUSINESS:

Joe Long requested that the Camp keep in mind the following dates:  June 14, 2012, Flag Day Ceremony in Scranton and the Local History Day at the Hamlin Library.  He also requested that all members try to make these events to support our Camp.  We will also remind everyone at the upcoming meetings.

Joe also wanted to remind everyone about the Op0en House on Saturday and let the members know that Russ Jones and Dale Keklock will be there, weather permitting.

NEW BUSINESS:

Joe announced that Captain Francis D. Tyson, USMC retired, will be the guest speaker at Memorial Day.  He will also contact the school about the band.  Craig Kelly will try to form a Camp Color Guard just in case the SVR cannot make it.  Dave Teeters will do the Pledge of Allegiance.  More information forth coming.

Joe also let us know that we will no longer make ribbons for the Memorial Day Program.  Instead, he suggested making a Badge for the Camp Commander every other year (Commander usually serves for two years).  Will talk with Howard Wolfe and get prices.  More discussion to follow.

Secretary Shaffer reported that the Camp was invited to the Armed Forces Day Parade on March 18, 2013.  Will discuss further at the next meeting. Scott Teeters suggested that if no one can march, we should gather on the sidewalk in a group and carry and wave flags.  The parade is also scheduled on an Open House weekend.

Secretary Shaffer read a thank you note from the Greene Dreher Historical Society thanking the Camp for its efforts to preserve Civil War history.  Secretary Shaffer scanned and put on disk the Minute Book from the GAR Post, Charles D. Waltz Post #575, in Newfoundland and presented it to Bernadine Lennon.  Upon meeting with her on Thursday, February 21, 2013, she presented Secretary Shaffer with a donation of $100.00 thanking him and the Camp for doing this work.

Scott Teeters reported that on February 1, 2013, a presentation was made at the Lake Winola United Methodist Church where he, Joe Long, Doug Teeters, Dave Teeters and Bob Baker talked about the Civil War.  Joe brought along some of his artifacts and ones from the Museum to put on display for the evening.  A beast feast followed and a very enjoyable evening was had by all.  The event coordinator passed the basket and a donation of $172.00 was made to the Museum.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER:

Patriotic Instructor Dave Teeters gave a brief talk on the battle of Ft. Donelson, KY.

The drawing for the Civil War plate was won by Secretary Shaffer.

With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.

                          Respectfully submitted,

 Robert C. Shaffer
