MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

April 24, 2014  

 

The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by SVC Commander Dale Keklock.

The minutes for the March meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes by Bob Gregory and seconded by Craig Kelly.  All were in favor.

 

The financial report was read by Joe Long with the following information:

A motion to accept was made by Dave Teeters and seconded by Bob Gregory.  All were in favor.

 

SICK MEMBER: 

Scott Teeters reported that a card and check was sent to Brother Ronald Robbins  and he will also send a card to Brother Ray Sulger. 

 

CORRESPONDENCE:  

Application for Armed Forces Veterans Parade, May 17, 2014.  By a show of hands, the Camp will participate.  Craig Kelly and the Color Guard (Dave Teeter, Giovan Lisi, Mark Myers and Bob Gregory) will be there.  Dorothy Kelly and Susan Mertz of the Ladies will carry the Banner.  Everyone will meet at the Museum at 9:30 that Saturday morning.

 

OLD BUSINESS: 

Memorial Day - Howard Wolfe presented the program and ribbon for the ceremony.  Because of cost, it was decided that the programs would be distributed to one per family, but all members and ladies present would receive one.  Susan Mertz of the Ladies is making Lincoln badges for Members and participants of the ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Civil War Plot of Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore, PA.

 

SVC Keklock suspended the meeting to invite the Ladies in to discuss Memorial Day and the upcoming replacement of Flags in Cathedral, Forest Hill and Dunmore cemeteries.  Howard Wolfe showed the Program and Ribbon.  It was decided that the detail would be May 3rd and will meet at the Museum at 9:30 that Saturday morning.  The detail will consist of: Bob Shaffer, Joe Long, Craig Kelly, Bob Gregory, Dale Keklock, Dave Teeters, Doug Teeters and Scott Teeters.  Howard Wolfe suggested that pictures be taken to place on the Website and on the Facebook page.  The Ladies were then excused and the meeting continued.

 

Craig Kelly announced that anyone who would like to march up to the Civil War Plot on Memorial Day is welcome to fall in with the Color Guard.  He also stated that members Hal Myers and Giovan Lisi were not able to make the meeting due to personal reasons.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Craig Kelly reported that the terms of Bob Shaffer and Scott Teeters are about to expire on the Board of the GAR Memorial Association.  Joe Long made a motion that a new five year term for the two members be made.  Craig Kelly seconded and all were in favor.  Ray
Sulger, Court appointed Member resigned.  Bob Shaffer made a motion that his seat be filled by Hal Myers.  Bob Gregory seconded and all were in favor.

 

It was asked who the Board Members were.  The Board has nine Members, four of which are Court appointed and five are voted on from the Camp.  The Members are:  Joe Long, President; Howard Wolfe, Vice President; Russ Jones, Secretary/Treasurer; Bob Shaffer, Scott Teeters, Harold Bowers, Bob Baker, Craig Kelly and Hal Myers.

 

Patriotic Instructor Dave Teeters had nothing to present.

 

50/50 winner was Dave Teeters.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
