OLD BUSINESS:

Nay Aug Park, July 4, 2014.  Joe Long said he would like to see more members attending.  He had a hard time finding flag bearers.  More people should be involved.

Joe Long reported that it may take 30 to 45 days for the city to finish the elevator project.  It is in very bad shape and should have been years ago.  Secretary Shaffer will notify everyone by email when we can move back in.

Howard Wolfe reported he would bring in the General Orders, which consisted of the cancellation of the Banquet at Remembrance Day.  He also reported on the controversy over the National Museum in Harrisburg.  Hal Myers said the Mayor just does not want to fund this project any longer and he wants it out of there.  The Pennsylvania Department Commander's Testimonial will be held at Hoss's Steak and Seafood House in Midway, PA.  The Mid-Year meeting will also be held there.

Our lease for the Museum will be up in 2017.  Joe and Howard will try to meet with the Mayor.

Justin Swan asked about the Spanish American Room.  Joe said it is all done and everything has been put back in and pictures have been hung.  Joe Ferrara, the head of the Spanish American War Camp has been promoted and has moved to Delaware.  If anyone would like to take over this project, please contact Joe Long.  Joe also suggested that other members get involved and learn the jobs of the Officers and other positions.

Secretary Shaffer reported he was contacted by a teacher in the Western Wayne School District about bringing his gifted students to the Museum.  Secretary Shaffer will keep him informed on the progress.

NEW BUSINESS:

Flag Ceremony - we need to be there, our Organization leads the parade off.

Howard Wolfe asked about the progress of the gun case for the Museum.  Joe reported that he would like to get permission to 3 book shelves for the Meeting Room to house the Record Books of the Camp.  Then those cabinets would be refurbished to house the weapons.  Howard suggested that we place LED lights in those cabinets.  Justin Swan and Frost Decker will come in and do a thorough cleaning of the weapons.  Justin also has ideas on displays.

The meeting was then suspended so that the Ladies could talk about the Christmas Party.  They would supply sandwiches and the men would furnish snacks and drinks.  The date would be Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Museum.

Election of Officers will be held in October and Installation of Officers will be held in November.

Joe Long reported that he received a check for $100.00 from the Auxiliary of the Department of Pennsylvania to have books rebound.

Gerard O'Malley reported that the Lackawanna County Historical Society will be having a Come and Meet the Civil War Generals Program on October 4, 2014 at the Catlin House.  Reservations are requested and the cost is $10.00 per person.

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

Patriotic Instructor Dave Teeters gave a talk on General Abner Doubleday.

With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.

Respectfully submitted,
