OLD BUSINESS:

Joe Long reported that the City Hall Elevator Project will be completed in 30-45 days.

Secretary Shaffer said they did not mention the group at all on a newscast at 6:00 Tuesday evening on WNEP-TV.

Dale Keklock reported that Joe Long and Scott Teeters will be giving a presentation on Monday, October 13, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at the Jermyn Boro Building at 440 Jefferson Ave. in Jermyn.

NEW BUSINESS:

A Civil War Round Table will be starting at the Lackawanna County Historical Society.  The Organizational Meeting will be held on November 9, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with Guest Speaker, James Getty portraying President Lincoln.  Hal Myers said that these tables influence young men and change their attitude toward regular meetings.  Clark Myers also added that a lot of attendees at these Round Tables are not descendants, just regular people interested in the Civil War.  Dale Kelock added that we have the lineage and we also have our Museum.  Joe Long suggested we get people to speak and encouraged Hal Myers to take the lead on this.

Howard Wolfe reported that the Repasz Band from Williamsport will be playing at a Ceremony at the Appomattox Court House commemorating the surrender of Robert E. Lee at that place.  This band also played at the actual surrender in 1865.  He also made a motion that we donate $200.00 to help them out.  Secretary Shaffer seconded and all were in favor.  Hal and Mark Myers will also be there being their ancestor with the 17th PA Cavalry was there at the time.

The meeting was suspended so that the Ladies could join us to talk about the Christmas Party on December 4th.  Due to the ongoing project at City Hall, it was decided to have contingency plan.  Dale Keklock will contact Joe Brier at the Genealogical Society of PA, in Peckville, to see if we can use his hall if we need to.  He will report at the next meeting.

Clark Myers asked who would be attending Remembrance Day this year because this is his first year there.  Respondents were Craig Kelly, Hal Myers and Giovan Lisi.

Craig Kelly and Secretary Shaffer reported that they attended the 150th Anniversary of the Great Shohola Train Wreck on July 13th.  We met with a Camp from New York and one from New Jersey.  Craig and the Commander form the New York Camp talked and Craig suggested that the Color Guard from Camp 8 go up and participate in the next Ceremony.
