CORRESPONDENCE:
Department Order #99: Observance of Memorial Day
OLD BUSINESS:
Memorial Day is all set. Joe Long reported that the road in the cemetery can be blocked off by cones for the ceremony. The Dunmore High School band will be there. The other Veterans will be there. We also have a bugler from the Dunmore High School. Scott stated that he will not have a truck to bring down the chairs. Commander Keklock will be on stand-by with his truck if needed.
Craig Kelly reported that the ceremony at Nay Aug went well and there was an article in the paper. He also suggested that the two guests: Thomas Lynch, Recreation Specialist and Commissioner Patrick O'Malley be sent letters of thanks for their attendance. Secretary Shaffer will take care of that.
Julie Esty will let us borrow her 5 portable sound systems for Memorial Day. In return she requested the use of the Color Guard at her event in October.
Craig also requested that everyone marching in the Armed Forces Day Parade meet at the Museum by 9:00am. He also said that next time any guests should be introduced.
Craig also reported that there will be a Dedication of a Vietnam Statue in September and suggested that members of the Camp and the Color Guard be there.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Ladies were then asked to join us as Commander Keklock then deviated from the normal meeting to hold the Ceremony for Departed Brothers as hosted by Hal Myers, the Patriotic Instructor.
Those honored were as follows:
Charles A. Battenburg 1940 | William H. Berge 1940 | William Gangwer 1941 | Adam J. Hartwick 1942 | Chester Cammer Jr. 1942 |
Edwin E. Betts 1942 | M.E. Sanders 1942 | Thomas G. Walsh 1942 | Willard B. Oliver 1942 | Charles B. Miller 1943 |

John F. Davis 1945 | Charles A. Burkel 1946 | Charles F. Miller 1946 | Edgar A. Jones 1946 | Thomas J. Fletcher 1946 |
GOOD OF THE ORDER:
Mark Myers reported that the monument for his ancestors has been delivered and will be unveiled on May 30th. He also asked everyone from the Camp to attend.
Joe Long and Howard Wolfe said the Monument in Dalton was being replaced and they offered a donation from the Camp.
Hal Myers has a personal hot spot for use when we have Meetings and Open Houses. He will bring with him whenever he is there. It will connect up to 10 computers.
Scott Teeters suggested we have some form of communication roster so that we will not have another fiasco like the day of the flag detail. If changes are made, everyone should be notified. He also suggested a list of attendees or volunteers should be mad. Howard Wolfe volunteered to make up a board with members names, email and phone number for anyone who would want one.
50/50 winner was Joe Long
With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert C. Shaffer
Secretary
