MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

June 25, 2015

 

The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Senior Vice-Commander Craig Kelly.

The minutes for the May meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes by Hal Myers and seconded by Howard Wolfe.  All were in favor.

 

Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:

    Help member fund $320.00

    Per capita paid

 

A motion to accept was made by Dave Teeters and seconded by Howard Wolfe.  All were in favor.

 

OLD BUSINESS: 

Mark Myers could not attend, but he sent a thank you letter to thank all who attended the dedication of his relatives' Monument.

 

Brother Hal Myers also added his thanks and Scott Teeters commented on the dedication and thanked the camp.

 

Brother Craig Kelly also thanked members of the Color Guard.

 

Pros and Cons of the Memorial Day Service were discussed and it was suggested that a committee be started with Scott Teeters and Hal Myers giving a report at the September meeting.

 

Brother Scott Teeters thanked Brother Mark Zurinski for the use of his truck to bring chairs to the Memorial Day service.

 

Brother Howard Wolfe reported that the funds needed to repair the Monument at Gettysburg were given by the Federal Government and as a result monies collected by the Camps were now not needed for this and it is still undecided how those monies will be used.

 

NEW BUSINESS:   

The 4th of July ceremony was discussed and the Flag Detail is to meet at 10am by the concession stand with the ceremony to start at 11am.

 

Brother Hal Myers talked about the success of the Hot Spot at the Open House which led to a discussion about the need to improve attendance at Open Houses.

 

Brother Hal mentioned that we should place an Ad in a circular which will allow non-profits to place an ad for free.

 

Brother Darren offered to contact Steamtown National Park officials about placing information about the Museum at the National Park.  Darren also volunteered to create a Facebook Page in an effort to increase awareness about the museum.

 

The next Open House is Saturday June 27th and then July 18th.

 

There will be a Museum Board Meeting at 10am on Saturday, June 27th.

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER: 

Brother Scott Teeters brought literature from the recent Pennsylvania Encampment and mentioned the next Encampment would be in Central Pennsylvania and in 2017 it will be in Western Pennsylvania and in 2018 in the York, PA area.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
