MONTHLY MEETING

EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

March 19, 2016  

The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander Craig Kelly.

The minutes for the February meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes by Hal Myers and seconded by Mark Zurinski.  All were in favor.

 

The financial report was read by Joe Long with the following information:

          Help money was $251.00

          December ticket winner: Austin Eltora

          January ticket winner: Stanley Meyer
          Per Capita paid to Department: $3,055.00

 

 Commander Kelly asked Joe Long to give a breakdown of how our dues are divided.  He also explained the expenditure of ticket money and the help member fund.

 

A motion to accept was made by Dave Teeters and seconded by Giovan Lisi.   All were in favor.

 

APPLICATIONS: 

Robert C. Strangfeld and Stephen J. Lewis.  Commander Kelly appointed a committee of Hal Myers, Mark Zurinski and Jerry Skotleski to review the applications.  A favorable report was made followed by a ballot.  Commander Kelly reported all were accepted.

 

We then proceeeded to install our new member, Brother Stangfeld and his badge was pinned on him by his wife.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  

Bob Baker sent an email to Commander Kelly stating that the showing of Glory would have to be on a weekday at the Dietrich Theatre.The matter was tabled until the next meeting.  Brother Bob Baker was chosen as the Committee Chairman.

 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Commander Kelly reported that the Appomattox Luncheon will be held in Williamsport and if anyone needed information to see Joe Long.

A motion was made by Giovan Lisi and seconded by Mark Zurinski to hold the next Camp meeting on April 23, 2016.  All were in favor.  A motion was made by Dave Teeters and seconded by Giovan Lisi to hold the Lincoln Ceremony at Nay Aug Park on April 23, 2016.  All were in favor.  Also on this day Julie Esty will have an exhibit at the Museum "Wandering Widows," Civil War related.

Memorial Day is set and only the name of the person to play Taps is needed.

A motion was made by Hal Myers and seconded by Giovan Lisi to participate in the Armed Forces Day Parade on May 21, 2016.  All were in favor.  Commander Kelly added even though you don't marh come out and support the Camp and Open House to be held that day.

A motion was made by Joe Long and seconded by Hal Myers to schedule a Flag detail on April 30th with a rain date on May 7, 2016.  All were in favor.  Forest Hill would be first with Dunmore second.  After the detail at Dunmore, a discussion of setup for Memorial Day will be held.           

 

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER: 

The Ladies were then asked to join us.  Brothers Jerry O'Malley, Hal Myers and Mark Zurinski were awarded their Armed Forces War Badge.  Jerry's was pinned by Joe Long, Hal's by wife Maggie and Mark's by wife Alana.

 

Danielle Shaffer reported she was contacted by Kim Erickson from Honesdale in reference to military veterans in Wayne County.  A large list was sent to her.

Joe Long asked that anyone let in to the Open House be directed to him so they may be assigned a tour guide.

 

A motion to adjourn was made by Secretary Shaffer and seconded by Hal Myers.  All were in favor.

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
