The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander Craig Kelly.

The minutes for the September meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes by Bob Gregory and seconded by Hal Myers.  All were in favor.


The financial report was read by Joe Long with the following information:

A motion was made to accept the minutes by Bob Strangfeld and seconded by Dale Keklock.  All were in favor.


Commander Kelly reported that James Jones, Eagle Scout Coordinator was absent and his report on a Court of Honor in Dunmore will be given at the next meeting if he attends.



Good friend of Brother Steve Narsavage has passed away.

Commander Kelly commented on the turn-out at the Dunmore Cemetery Tours and said he hoped to have a good showing at the Open House.  Hal Myers and Dale Keklock aslo commented that there were about 400 people there and all went well.



Remembrance Day will be on November 19th in Gettysburg.  Any and all are urged to attend if they are able.


By a majority vote, the next Camp meeting will be held on November 12th at 10:30am and will be followed by an Open House at 12:30pm.


Commander Kelly read this statement in regards to the Nomination of Officers in November: "Nominations for elected Amp Officers for 2017 will be held at the next meeting in November.  Slate consists of Commander, SVC, JVC, Secretary and Treasurer.  I shall not seek nor will I accept the nomination of Commander of Camp 8 for another term.  Thenk you for giving me the opportunity in serving as your Commander.  It was my honor.  Thank you."


Darren Pitts spoke about a possible presentation and book signing with Brian Keator on his book "A Strong Brotherhood in Blood."  He would like to set up a date for this event.


Joe Long commented on the cancellation of the Mid-Year meeting saying it has been going on for over 20 years and things were accomplished before the Encampment.


Dale Keklock asked about inviting David DeCosmo to an Open House to help with advertising us and getting us out to the public.


The meeting was then suspended and the Ladies were asked to join us.  A discussion of the pizza party was held and was set for after the meeting in November.  Each person would pay $5.  Darren Pitts also gave a brief report on the 143rd Pennsylvania Volunteers at Gettysburg along with information of Color Bearer Ben Crippen, from this area, who had been shot.  He also gave a presentation on what a soldier would have with him during his term in the service.


The Commander then dismissed and thanked the Ladies for coming.



Commander Kelly presented Secretary Shaffer with a Commendation for his 27 years of unwavering dedication to our Order of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.  He gave a brief of all Brother Shaffer has accomplished during this time.  He also presented him with a 25 year pin.


Hal Myers gave a brief report on the Battle of Cedar Creek.  Bob and Barb Strangfeld also visited there and commented on the Museum at Winchester, VA.  Our guest, Ken Snook, also said that a visit to the Belle Grove mansion would be a good experience.


With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
