MONTHLY MEETING
EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8
January 21, 2017
The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Acting Commander Mark Zurinski.

The minutes for the November meeting were read. The minutes were approved with one correction. The date of the next meeting and Open House should read January 21, 2017.
The financial report was read by Joe Long with the following information:
December ticket winners - Ralph Leber and Bernie Piontek
The report was approved as read.
SICK MEMBER:
Commander Kelly and Secretary Shaffer were both ill.
CORRESPONDENCE:
DO #8 Passing of PCinC/PDC Charlie Kuhn; DO #9 Appointing Glenn B. Knight as Department Chief of Staff replacing Gene Mortoff; GO #10 Passing of PCinC/PDC Charlie Kuhn; GO #11 By-Laws not mentioning restrictions of monitoring Brothers under the age of 18.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Brother Jim Jones, Eagle Scout Coordinator brought the Camp up to date on the Certificate Program.
PATRIOTIC INSTRUCTOR:
Report postponed to next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Installation of Officers was then conducted by Brother Howard Wolfe, PDC. He then thanked Brother Craig Kelly for his dedicated service as Camp Commander. The Commander Elect was then asked to present his roster of Officers for the year 2017. Brother Jim Jones as Acting Secretary read the presented list of names. The Acting Chaplain offered a Blessing on all those nominated and elected for the respective offices. Brother Wolfe read the Commander's Charge to Commander-Elect Myers. Commander Myers fully acknowledged the stipulation of the Charge and agreed there to. All other Officers were then sworn in and assumed their new positions. Brother Wolfe completed the Installation Ceremony by presenting Commander Myers with his Badge of Office. All newly installed Officers received the accolade of the Camp Members.

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER:
Bill Fischer, a brother from the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in Kansas has recently been transferred by the U.S. Park Service to the Steamtown National Historic Site. He will transfer his membership to our Camp. Brother Fischer was welcomed.
Our next meeting will be held on Saturday February 18th at 10:30am with Open House to follow at 12noon.
With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.

After the official Camp meeting closed, Commander Myers acknowledged those who helped complete the work involved in cataloging our GAR library collection with the Scranton Public Library.
Commander Myers presented Certificates of Appreciation to: Dorothy Kelly, Alana Zurinski, Mark Zurinski, Gerard O'Malley and Ireland Myers.
He also expressed the gratitude of the Camp to the Senior Staff of the Scranton Library: Mary Ann Savakins, Sylvia Orner and Marie Crispino.
Joseph Long presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Hal Myers for all the work he did in spearheading the library project.
