MONTHLY MEETING

EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

November 18, 2017

 

The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander Hal Myers.

The minutes for the October meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes by Jim Jones and seconded by Jim Kobeski.  All were in favor.

 

The financial report was read by Joe Long with the following information:

 

A motion to accept was made by Jerry Skotleski and seconded by Mark Zurinski.   All were in favor.

COMMITTEE:   

Eagle Scout Coordinator Jim Jones reported no active requests in November, but there was a Court of Honor in Dingmans Ferry, PA in October.  He has also sending letters to 5 local colleges letting them know of our ROTC award program, which will commence in January 2018.

 

OLD BUSINESS: 

Commander Myers reported that our lease has been set for 1 year by unanimous vote of the City Council.  Council member Bill Gaughan wanted 5, but that was not done.  Craig Kelly also thanked Hal, Jerry and all those involved for doing a great job getting things done.  Council Member Bill Gaughan has been on our side from the beginning.

 

NEW BUSINESS:   

By a show of hands, it was decided to have our January Meeting and Open House on January 20, 2018.  There will also be a research Open House on January 6, 2018.  We will also have a research Open House on December 2 and 16, 2017.  It was also decided by a show of hands to not have a Meeting in December.

Commander Myers extended his thanks to Craig, Jerry O’Malley and everyone else who had helped him during his tenure as Commander.  He added that he hopes that we will continue to move forward.

 

Secretary Shaffer reported that at the last Memorial Association meeting it was noted that Craig Kelly would have to be re-appointed for another 5 year term.  Camp voted yes unanimously.  At the same time it was noted that Harold Bowers was replaced as a Court Appointed member by Hal Myers.            

 

The meeting was then suspended for the Installation of Officers and the Ladies were asked to join us.

 

Craig Kelly, with the blessing of Department Command Chris Carty, was then tasked to perform the duty of Installation Officer.

Newly installed Commander Mark Zurinski took the reins of the Camp.

           

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER: 

Patriotic Instructor Jerry O’Malley gave a brief synopsis of the election of President Abraham Lincoln with Andrew Johnson as his Vice President.  He also reiterated on the Presidential elections and what they incurred during that time.  

 

With no further business, questions or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
