SPECIAL MEETING

EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

GAR MEMORIAL ASSOCIATION

January 4, 2020

The meeting was opened by Board President Hal Myers and then turned over to Camp Commander Jerry Skotleski who asked for a moment of silence for the passing of Joe Long.

Other members in attendance were:

Dale Kelock Bill Fischer Howard Wolfe Jim Jones
Mike Passero Jerry O'Malley Russ Jones

Guest: Danielle Shaffer, Ladies Auxiliary Past President

The main focus of the meeting was to find someone to fill the position of Camp Tresurer Joe Long.  Bob Shaffer stated that information is still going to Joe's house and will be given to him when he meets with Mary Jo.

Howard Wolfe said we need to keep with the changing of banks as was previously being accomplished.

Jim Jones stated that we should have another letter written by the Camp Commander authorizing the change.  Commander Jerry Skotleski was tasked for this.

Howard Wolfe also stated that for the time being he would do the financial portion of the position and asked Bob Shaffer to help with the membership side until someone was found.  Bob Shaffer said he would make the changes to the dues statement with a note to remind members that any donation is tax deductable.  After all of this is completed, a mailing will be made to all members which will also let them know that dues are needed ASAP because of the Annual Report that is due shortly.

Hal Myers said he would make an appointment with the new Mayor to discuss our lease.  He was also concerned about the keys for the cabinets and all the loaned artifacts from Joe Long.

Hal Myers also stated that Railfest was changed from September to June.  A discussion about a display followed.

Hal Myers also brought up having someone to step up to take care of the 4th of July Ceremony at the Nay Aug Park.

Hal Myers also stated that tjhe printer was still not working after multiple cartridge replacements.  Howard Wolfe said that when his son visited he would take the printer to have him look at it and see if he could find the problem.

Jerry O'Malley reported that our application for a Grant submitted to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission was not approved. The Grant was for the preservation of the photographs of prominent past members currently displayed in the museum and for the purchase of Archival supplies. We. were encouraged to request feedback and reapply in the near future.

The next Board Meeting will be held on February 1, 2020.

Respectfully submitted,
