MONTHLY MEETING

EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

August 15, 2020

The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander Jerry Skotleski.

Other members in attendance were:

Bob Shaffer Jerry O'Malley Mike Passero Jim Jones Hal Myers

Officers Excused: Treasurer Howard Wolfe

Guest: Sister Danielle Shaffer, Ladies Auxiliary #10

John Meyer, WNEP TV, wants to do a story on the Museum.

Commander Skotleski will try to get a hold of the Mayor to try and get back into our Meeting Room and Museum.

September meeting for the whole Camp to be held virtually.

We now have 85 members in the Camp.  20 members were dropped due to non-payment of dues.

Secretary Shaffer will begin in September to send out dies statements for the next year, 2010.  There will be a header letter sent requesting all members to update all personal information.  8 members have no email at this time.  He will also contact Treasurer Wolfe to contact National Quartermaster to acquire new membership cards and membership certificates.  Secretary Shaffer will also ask for a check to purchase stamps for the upcoming membership drive.

2 prospective members are on hold at present.  They will be contacted in September about filing their applications.

Jerry O'Malley inquired in National has set any guidelines for meetings.  Secretary Shaffer forwarded all General Orders to the membership, but there has been nothing else.  He also asked if a face-to-face meeting could be held at either Nay Aug or McDade Park.  This is an option.

SVC Jim Jones reported that the Department Encampment was held on Zoom.

Commander Skotleski will send an email to Camp members about the meeting, letting everyone know that we are alive and well.  He will also let them know we are scheduling a Zoom meeting for August 29, 2020 at 10:30am.  As host, he will send out emails to all members.  He will also pick a committee to try to get people to participate in meetings and events.  The Lincoln Ceremony will be held in November at Nay Aug Park.  We will schedule the Departed Brothers Ceremony as part of the Zoom meeting.  He will formulate a Sponsorship letter to be sent to local businesses, and also ask for donations.

Commander Skotleski also requested we send a letter to Boy Scout groups and schools reminding them we are still available when permitted to reopen the Museum.

Patriotic Instructor Jerry O'Malley will also make his usual Civil War report.

With no further business, the camp was closed in ritualistic manner by Commander Skotleski.

Respectfully submitted,

Robert C. Shaffer
