MONTHLY MEETING
EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8
January 16, 2021
The Zoom meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander
Jerry Skotleski.

The minutes for the December meeting were read. A motion was made to
accept the minutes as read by Dale Keklock and seconded by Jim Jones. All were
in favor.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
As of today, we have 83 members in total.
1 member has resigned and another has dropped out.
28 members have paid their dues.
A motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report was made by Timothy Chase and
seconded by Rich Ryczak.
All were in favor.
SICK MEMBERS:
Craig Kelly gave his condolences on the passing of the Commander’s
father.
Jerry thanked everyone for their thoughts, prayers and cards.
APPLICATIONS:
Fred Hunt’s paperwork is done and has been sent to Department as of
December 28th, 2020.
Dale Keklock has 2 men that would like to join.
One is from Forest City and the other from the
Jessup/Philadelphia area.
EAGLE SCOUT REPORT:
Jim Jones reported that 2 scouts have been picked up and we have a total
of 8 scouts in various stages.
There has been no face to face Court of Honor so all
ceremonies if any, are done by zoom or online.
CORRESPONDENCE:
There were more General Orders and 1 Department Order and they have been
emailed to members.
OLD BUSINESS:
Jim Jones talked about his New Member Handbook.
He asked about suggestions on how to get it out to new
members.
It would be emailed to members as they joined or printed and mailed out
if they didn’t have email.
It was also said about being placed on the website.
Jerry and his sister are still willing to work on the wreaths.
NEW BUSINESS:
2 Camps will be hosting the Lincoln Luncheon and Appomattox Luncheon,
but no other information is available.
Bob Shaffer has sent in his resignation from Editor of the Battlecry of
Freedom for the past 20 years.
He was thanked by members for his service and he hopes
that the next person to take this job will have newer ideas for the future.
Bill Fischer stated that his is a dual member with a Kansas Camp and
Kansas held their National Encampment.
The SUVCW CinC stated that National working on a policy
about members who attend Zoom meetings but do not come to meetings physically
and whether or not they should be able to vote.
Bill Gaughan, who is on the Scranton City Council, will be leaving soon.
The Lincoln Luncheon Ceremony will be held on February 13th
weather pending.
This will be held at the Lincoln Monument at Nay Aug Park.
If weather is bad, pictures and such will be taken and
will be held during the men’s meeting on February 20th.
GOOD OF THE ORDER:
Our next meeting will be held by Zoom on February 20th
at 10:30am or unless changed by the Commander.
Bill Fischer asked that we keep his daughter and son-in-law in our
prayers as they are waiting to adopt a child from overseas.
Bill also told members that he will be doing a talk in Baltimore, MD
this July.
PATRIOTIC INSTRUCTION:
PI Jerry O’Malley did a brief lecture on West Point and the 4 most used
rifles used in the Civil War.
With no further business, the camp was closed in ritualistic manner by
Commander Skotleski.
