MONTHLY MEETING
EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8
March 20, 2021
The Zoom meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander
Jerry Skotleski.

The minutes for the February meeting were read. Jim Jones pointed out a
time error under his Eagle Scout Report.
A motion then was made by James Jones and seconded by
Timothy Chase.
All were in favor.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Secretary Bob Shaffer read email sent by Treasurer Howard Wolfe.
A check to the Department for Per Capita has been sent
and our Annual Report is also in.
A motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report was made by Dale Keklock and
seconded by Craig Kelly. All were in favor.
SICK MEMBERS:
None
APPLICATIONS:
Gary E. Snyder of West Pittston will be sending his application soon.
We will be picking up 3 additional members: John Zadzura, Dave Saco and
Mitchell Evans.
5 members are being dropped and (1) one will re-instate next year.
EAGLE SCOUT REPORT:
1 candidate is being processed for first face to face since pandemic.
Candidate is from Mountain Top.
Tony Kline has been replaced by Don Houston for Eagle Scout Coordinator
for Department.
CORRESPONDENCE:
There were more General Orders and Department Orders and they have been
emailed to members.
OLD BUSINESS:
Jim’s New Handbook has been sent to new member John Zadzura.

If Dunmore Band doesn’t play, Commander Jerry knows someone that plays
Taps, but we should have a back up just in case

NEW BUSINESS:
Flag Detail to be held on May 8th
at 10am, weather permitting.
We will convene at the Dunmore Cemetery and then will do
Forest Hill Cemetery
Howard Wolfe is trying to contact someone about flags
Department Encampment to be held June 24th
to 27th in Altoona
Commander Skotleski received a phone call from Ron Scrimavage about a
donation of a sword to the Museum.
Commander Skotleski is hoping to see the Museum open by May or June
A list of donation was sent to Commander Skotleski from Bob Shaffer.
The Commander sent out thank you emails to those who
have donated and received an email from a member saying he was willing to donate
$500.
The Commander asked members what should be done.
Jim Jones said that we should graciously accept the
donation.
It was then decided that a certificate be sent to the member for
this gesture.
Rich Ryczak will donate the frame and Bob Shaffer will get the
Certificate.
Camp Website is in transition and will be moving from Arvixe to Godaddy
by May 27th.
The Picture Project Bob Shaffer is working on is on hold.
Bill Fischer is working on a grant which would aid the picture project.
GOOD OF THE ORDER:
Our next meeting will be held by Zoom on April 17th
at 10:30am or unless changed by the Commander.
Bill Fischer said that he is working with the Department on the last
soldiers of each county.
Some need a perimeter on who can be named as last Civil War soldier.
Bill also said that if no one takes the job as Department Editor of the
Battle Cry of Freedom that he will do so for a year or 2 until someone else is
interested.
Bill also said that from the National Commander in Chief, that the Air
Force is now allowing SUV medals to ROTC cadets.
Bill asked that members keep his daughter Molly and son-in-law Josh in
their prayers as they are about to embark on a journey to Seoul, South Korea for
the adoption of a child.
Bill also will be doing a Zoom Lecture on Aviation in WWI on March 25th
at 7:00pm for the Abington Community Library.
PATRIOTIC INSTRUCTION:
None as Jerry O. was having technical difficulty.
With no further business, the camp was closed in ritualistic manner by
Commander Skotleski.
