MONTHLY MEETING

EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

June 19, 2021

 

The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander Jerry Skotleski.

 

Other members in attendance were:

Officers Excused:  JVC Mike Passero, Treasurer Howard Wolfe and Temp Chaplain Hal Myers

Guests: Gage Sacco, prospective new member

 

The meeting was suspended so that Commander Skotleski could perform the Initiation Ceremony for John Zadzura and Gary Snyder, which he did very well.

 

The minutes for the May meeting were read. A motion was made to accept the minutes as read by Jim Jones and seconded by Dale Keklock. All were in favor.

 

SICK MEMBERS:

None

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  

There was no Treasurer's Report available.

 

APPLICATIONS

Gage Sacco presented his application to Secretary Shaffer.

 

EAGLE SCOUT COORDINATOR: 

There was one Court of Honor held.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:  

All General Orders and Department Orders have been emailed to members.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  

Bill Fischer reported that he is still working on the Grant and should be done by the end of July.

There was no report on the movement of the Museum.  Secretary Shaffer was tasked to email Howard, Russ and Hal to ascertain any available information.

 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Command Skotleski let the members know that he was contacted by the Encampment Committee to see if we would have something for the Campfire at the Encampment.  Jim Jones put a little poem together which everyone thought was good and he will present to the body.

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER:  

Bill told us of his daughter Molly and son-in-law Josh are settling in with their new son.  He also reported that daughter Molly was promoted to Major in the Ohio National Guard.

 

Commander Skotleski asked the Ladies to join us at that point.  He thanked all members and the Ladies Auxiliary for their assistance in getting the Memorial Day Ceremony set up in such short notice.  He spoke of the Radio Show that he and Dale were a part of to emphasize our Camp and the Memorial Day Ceremony which was videotaped by Dale for the Camp.  Dale was then asked to present himself to the Commander where Susan Mertz presented him with an "Oscar" for his fine work in videotaping the events of the Camp.

Secretary Shaffer was tasked to prepare Thank You cards for the Bugler at Memorial Day, Jack Partyka and the lady as Price Chopper near Craig and Dottie for the rose petals for the graves.  Craig then proceeded to tell us how everything took place to get the petals.

Dale Keklock let us know that we could go on the Radio at any time for upcoming events.

Next meeting is September 11, 2021 at 10:30am.

           

PATRIOTIC INSTRUCTION:  

Jerry O'Malley did a fine report on the life and Command of General James Longstreet during the Civil War.

 

With no further business or discussion; the meeting was closed in ritual fashion by Commander Skotleski.
