MONTHLY MEETING

EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

December 4, 2021

The Zoom meeting was called to order in ritualistic manner by Commander Jerry Skotleski.

The minutes from the November meeting were read.  A motion was made to accept the minutes as read by Tim Chase and seconded by Hal Myers.  All were in favor.

 

The Treasurer's Report was given by Howard Wolfe.  Bob Shaffer made a motion to accept the Treasurer's Report and Rich Ryczak seconded.  All were in favor.

 

SICK MEMBERS:

New member Gage Sacco's parents have Covid.  Commander Skotleski sends his thoughts and prayers to Gage's family.

 

INVESTIGATING COMMITTEE:

Jerry O'Malley still hasn't heard from Cathedral Cemetery.

 

EAGLE SCOUT COORDINATOR:

Jim Jones thanked Commander Skotleski for attending the Eagle Scout Court of Honor on November 27th.  Commander Skotleski thanked Jim Jones for the opportunity to attend the ceremony.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:

All General Orders and Department Orders were emailed to members.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Howard Wolfe still has not heard anything on the move.  Bill Fischer has not heard back from the State Archives on the archiving of pictures in our collection.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Jerry O'Malley brought up the next meeting for January 15th, 2022 at the Scranton Public Library.  There was talk on the meeting, parking and that the meeting would be held on the 2nd floor of the Library in the Media Room.  We were also told we can use their Zoom for members who can't attend the meeting in person.

 

Jerry O'Malley also talked about a program being put on by the Philadelphia Camp on Christmas Traditions.  The next program will be held tomorrow, Sunday, December 5th at 11am.

 

Bob Shaffer received an email from the Commander of Camp #141 in regards to showing support of the General Madill House movement and being made into a Museum.  A letter of support was sent to Commander Lafy.

 

Jerry O'Malley talked to the guy who has the World War II room next to ours at the Old School for the Deaf.

 

INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS:

The meeting was paused for the Installation of Officers and PCC.  Dale Keklock was delegated the task.  Officers installed were as followed:

Commander Skotleski congratulated each member.

 

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER:

Bill Fischer spoke of his time at the Remembrance Day weekend in Gettysburg.  He spoke of the crazy Confederates as Rich Ryczak admitted to being one of them.

Bill Fischer spoke of his daughter Molly who has taken a position for the Ohio Guard.

Hal Myers spoke of the problems with placing flags and wreaths on tombstones at Gettysburg.  That issue has been solved.

 

PATRIOTIC INSTRUCTION:

Jerry O'Malley gave his report on Philip Henry Sheridan and his experiences in the Civil War.

 

With no further business or discussion, the meeting was closed in ritualistic fashion by Commander Skotleski.
